Vilamoura - The Velvet Marina

Today I visited Vilamoura, a marina located in the Algarve region in Portugal. It is a stunning harbour enclosed with shops and restaurants.

The harbour is kept immaculately clean, the teal water
sparkles in the winter sun, making the schools of fish easy to be seen. The harbour has clearly been built for fairly rich tourists, English like the rest of the Algarve is easily understood and prices are clearly higher than Olhao.

The seafood is absolutely delicious. We ordered Portugese Seafood Tapas which included: grilled prawns, seafood croquettes, garlic cream mussels, garlic butter cockles and hot goat's cheese. The cockles were the best dish, the had a very distinct taste which is not present when you eat cockles in London and teamed with the coriander the flavours complimented one another!

If you are visiting in Algarve its worth an afternoon visit, for me that is the true meaning of a vacation - sat in the winter sun by the marina which is covered by expensive yatchs, drinking rose sangeria and eating fresh seafood......(there is also a Haagen-Dazs which as you know makes mouth-watering deserts!)

A few photos are shared below.
